How to add app icons in Android Studio
Android Studio requires you to provide launcher icons in various resolutions to support different screen pixel densities. Our generator handles this complexity, taking a single 1024x1024 image and outputting the precise folder structure Android Studio expects.
The Android Studio Workflow
- Generate assets: Upload your image above and click "Download ZIP".
- Extract files: Unzip the downloaded file and open the `android` folder.
- Add to project: In Android Studio, navigate your project structure to `app/src/main/res/`.
- Merge folders: Copy the `mipmap-mdpi`, `mipmap-hdpi`, `mipmap-xhdpi`, `mipmap-xxhdpi`, and `mipmap-xxxhdpi` folders and paste them directly into the `res` directory. They will merge with the existing folders, replacing the default `ic_launcher.png`.
- Configure App: Ensure your `AndroidManifest.xml` has `android:icon="@mipmap/ic_launcher"` in the `<application>` tag.
- Build & Test: Run your app on an emulator or physical device to see your new icon.
